Jon grew up as an active youth in Dartmouth, NS, competing in a variety of sports,
including basketball, baseball, hockey, and tae kwon do.
He continues to play basketball at the highest recreational level in Edmonton, squaring off against many ex-professional and national team players.
He discovered early on that training your body and mind complements the activities you choose to pursue in life.
Jon graduated from NAIT’s Personal Training program with honors. He is a Certified Personal Trainer with both the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports medicine (NASM). While at NAIT, Jon got the opportunity to work as a Student Athletic Therapist for the Soccer, Volleyball, and Badminton teams. This experience provided a deeper look and understanding of how to deal with and help people recover from injury. Jon has the skill, knowledge, and creativity to train anyone from clients wanting to improve their general fitness to athletes looking for increased performance; but he is most passionate about helping people lose weight while teaching them to embrace health and wellness into their everyday lives. This is a paragraph.
Jon is very connected to his clients and their successes:
“The feeling of pride that I get when I see the physical and emotional transformation of my clients is almost indescribable.
I am very privileged that I get to help people as a living.”
Jeff’s athletic background has made him a very passionate and inspirational personal trainer. His most prideful moments come in when a client shares their stories of success and improved quality of life from training.
In 2013, Jeff enrolled in the Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma program at NAIT. During this time Jeff took part in classes such as Sports Performance, Corrective Exercise and Life Span and Clinical Exercise. The courses have created a very well-rounded trainer that is willing and capable of taking on any client from any background and fitness level.
During this time Jeff also volunteered as a student trainer with the NAIT OOKS Men’s Soccer team. This gave Jeff additional skills to add to his repertoire as he worked along side NAIT’s Athletic therapists, granting him knowledge in injury prevention and management. In 2015, Jeff graduated the NAIT PFT program with honours.
Prior to school and personal training, Jeff was consistently involved in sport. At the age of six Jeff was playing high levels of both Hockey and Soccer. Growing up in Ardrossan, Jeff had spent hours watching his two older brothers play Hockey and had become a student of the sport. Jeff has applied this to his training of young hockey players.
Jeff now has moved on from Hockey and Soccer, and now expresses a high passion level for the sport of Olympic Weightlifting. Jeff has been practicing this trade for a few years and is now on his way to competing at the amateur level as a hobby.
Rob has always been a very active individual even from his early days. You could always find him playing soccer, street hockey, rollerblading or doing something outside in the neighbourhood. He did not find his real calling in sport until the age of thirteen when he discovered his love for running. Rob is neither the fastest nor the slowest runner but has always committed himself to improving. He has learned so much about life while going through countless pairs of running shoes. He has found that if you have a dream, make a plan and stick with it you will succeed. Throughout high school Rob trained for and completed several marathons and enjoyed his time thoroughly. He continued his passion for running at the University of Lethbridge on their track and field team well completing his degree in Kinesiology.
Rob brings to his personal training business a passion for helping others with their personal fitness goals. He has strong skills in empathy, hard work, problem solving and creative individual programming. Rob brings his own sense of style and expertise to all of his sessions and running programs. All of these factors led Rob into personal training in the winter of 2008. He absolutely loves what he does and does not consider it work. He is very passionate for helping those who want to help themselves further their fitness journey.
It is with great pleasure that I say I am a NAIT Personal Fitness Trainer Program graduate, which has helped me earn my CSEP Certified Personal Trainer and NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist certifications. Being active and playing sports has always been a huge part of my life. When I started my fitness journey, I was inspired to work hard in the gym when I began to see rewarding results. I want to be able to support that type of experience for others as I work beside them, and guide them on their own personal path to starting or maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I take pride in being a compassionate, well educated personal trainer who loves motivating people to work toward their goals while not just focusing on their physical goals, but to focus on improving their mindset and challenging them to grow in all aspects of their lives. Join me on a path to help you accomplish your goals, realize your full potential, and celebrate your successes.

Philosophy
No single approach is right for every individual, which is why Duey demonstrates a client-centered approach in his training. Duey tailors a program for each individual client based on their issues and aims, which may include massage therapy, functional movement, and strength and performance training.
His goal is to educate and empower you by giving you options not restrictions, enabling you to integrate healthy choices into your everyday life.
Experience
Duey’s 25 years of experience in the health and wellness industry started as a massage therapist in 1995.
He opened his own massage therapy clinic in 1999 and further honed his craft by working for the 2001 World Track and Field Championships. It was here that he realized he had a passion for fitness. This led to further specialized education and training to became a personal trainer by 2004.
With his sights initially set on training athletes, he became the strength and conditioning coach for national level badminton and soccer athletes, as well as supporting the Canadian Junior Women’s Rugby Team.
However, after further experience working with a wide variety of clients, he soon realized he also has a passion for working with individuals who want to maximize their functionality but are facing obstacles, due to either injury or issues associated with the aging process.
Duey also understands the importance of staying current with the latest trends and research. He continues to pursue further education and training through various means to stay up to date, including through formal course work.
Personal
Growing up as a shy Chinese kid in the ‘big city’, Duey realized sports was a great way to develop his athletic ability, confidence and genuine friendships.
Early on in his athletic career, he was an integral member of the Alberta baseball provincial championship team, where he was later scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
As an adult, he honed his athletic ability towards racquet sports, where he earned a gold medal in badminton at the 2005 World Masters Games. He also took up tennis and soon became a 4.0 Provincial Doubles Tennis Champion, earning the #1 ranking that same year.
When not playing sports, Duey enjoys a relaxing evening with his lovely wife, eating pizza, chocolate (loves a good chocolate mousse), watching Netflix and then sleeping in.
Theo was shooting a basketball before he could walk. Having been fascinated with sports, he got involved in any physical activity he could. If you don’t see him at the gym you will likely find him playing basketball, camping, hiking or snowboarding in the mountains.
Having a passion for playing sports and being active, it led him to coaching basketball teams and eventually the Personal Fitness Trainer program at NAIT. Since graduating in 2017 his focus and passion in his work is injury prevention and management by using Corrective Exercise techniques. He also helps his clients with weight loss and building positive habits around exercise.
Theo defines his success as a trainer by the success of his clients. His number one priority is addressing their unique individual needs. By doing this, it is his goal for them to become the best physical version of themselves and live life without any bodily limitations.
“Part of living is movement. Without movement, we are not living.”
